Today Cisco released a set of patches today to address security issues with Cisco routers and networkings devices that handle MPLS traffic on IPv4 and IPv6 devices. One of the issues affects Cisco devices which handle IPv4 traffic that use a version of IOS that that supports Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) with MPLS disabled. The issue can cause a Denial of Service against the routing device if a series of specially crafted packets are sent through a device which has the MPLS disabled on the receiving interface.

This vulnerability exists in Cisco IOS releases based on 12.1T, 12.2, 12.2T, 12.3 and 12.3T, which include MPLS features for IPv4 devices. Other releases for IPv4 devices are not affected by the issues.

The second issue relates to IPv6 devices, again the issue can cause a denial of service when multiple specially crafedt IPv6 packest is sent through device. This issue seems to affect numerous IOS releases that support IPv6.

The best advice is to get your IOS updated to the patches you can find here and here.
