The Mozilla team have released a new version of Firefox, there are releases for Firefox 3.0.x and 2.0.0.x, both addressing a number of issues. However the release for the 2.0.0.x series of Firefox actually fixes a couple of issues that are specific to that series of Firefox.

There are five issues addressed in the 3.0.2 release of Firefox, one considered Low risk, two considered Moderate risk and two considered Critical. The following are the issues addressed by the update to Firefox 3.
The following issues are also able to be exploited in Thunderbird is Javascript is enabled, although it is not by default.
  • MFSA 2008-43 BOM characters stripped from JavaScript before execution
  • MFSA 2008-42 Crashes with evidence of memory corruption (rv:1.9.0.2/1.8.1.17)
  • MFSA 2008-41 Privilege escalation via XPCnativeWrapper pollution
If your still using Firefox 2.0.0.x, which you really shouldn't be given that Mozilla are withdrawing support for it soon, the following are the issues addressed by the 2.0.0.17 release:
Of these Firefox 2 issues, four are considered Critical, one is considered High risk, two are considered Moderate risk and two considered Low Risk.

As always when it comes to patches, it is highly recommended that you get the latest version installed as soon as possible. The Firefox updater should start prompting you within the next couple of days to get the update installed, so everyone should get updated pretty easily.
