NIST Publish First Round Picks for SHA-3

NIST has published details of the first round candidates for the SHA-3 competition.
Some 51 entries have made it to the first round, although it is understood that there was around 64 submissions on the closing date for entries. The missing 13 it is assumed where rejected as incomplete.
Already there are some entries for the competition that have been broken in some way. Of the first round picks, Boole, DCH, EnRUPT, MCSSHA-3, Sgàil and WaMM. There are also efforts underway to benchmark the candidates to see which will offer the best performance with details published here and on the Skein site here too.
