Exploit Released For Recent Linux Multiprocessor Kernel Vulnerability PDF Print E-mail

The vulnerability disclosed on January 12th 2005 which affects multi processor machines had a public exploit released for it today (Sunday). The vulnerability affects all 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6 kernels up to and including 2.2.27-rc1, 2.4.29-rc1 and 2.6.10. The original vulnerability details can be found here. The vulnerability allows a local attacker to obtain root level access and the exploit can be found here. If you run an SMP kernel, have not already patched, and run a shared system it’s time to get patching.
