Apple post nine OS X patches PDF Print E-mail

Apple have released nine security fixes for both the server and workstation releases of OS X, to correct a number of security related issues. The fixes all apply to the 10.3.8 release of OS X. The issues include fixes for two issues in the Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) that could create a means for attackers to either launch a denial of service attack or discover the contents of a drop box. Also a buffer overflow in the Core Foundation, which allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code has been patched. Additionally the Apple web browser Safari has been updated to provide better protection again the Domain Spoofing issues that have been discovered through the use of International Domain Names (IDN).

The other fixes which Apple have pushed out include a couple of updates to the Cyrus IMAP Client and Cyrus SASL to address a Denial of Service attack issue, plus a folder permissions issue that could lead to privilege escalation attacks. Then there is a fix for the Apple Mailman package to resolve the mailman directory traversal issues which where discovered a little while ago. Finally there is an update for the Bluetooth software to address a security issue there.
