The notorious Russian spammer Vardan Kushnir was found murdered on Sunday in his Moscow apartment. Kushnir was killed by repeated blows to the head according to the Russian news agency Interfax. Kushnir, 35 was the head of the Center for American English, the New York English Centre and the Centre for Spoken English, all known to have aggressive Internet advertising policies in which millions of e-mails were sent every day.

In the past disgruntled surfers have blitzed the American English Center with nuisance phone calls and returned email messages. Under Russian law, spamming is not considered illegal, however lawmakers are working on legislation that could protect Internet users from Russian spammers with laws similar to legislation in the US and Europe.

It is understood that Russian authorities are treating the case a murder, however every day between 10 and 20 people meet a violent death in Russia’s capital, and a significant part of those crimes remains unsolved. So the chances are we will never get to thank the person that killed the spammer who thought it was his god given right to fill our mailboxes with spam advertising sex, drugs and college degrees.
