Spyware peddler iSearch/iDownload has taken to attempting to sue the critics of their less than honourable iSearch toolbar, by serving Castle Cops with a nice cease and desist. The full cease and desist can be viewed here along with Castle Cops response here. Now what is interesting is that the good old iSearch toolbar is classified quite widely as spyware, it is even classified as such by Symantec, you know that tiny American security company, you can see their analysis of the iSearch spyware here. So one wonders if othersuch as Symantec have received similar letters from the office of Savrick Schumann Johnson McGarr Kaminski & Shirley.

But this whole affair does raise an interesting point, someone really needs produce an accepted definition of what Spyware is, so that the peddlers of this form of malicious code know exactly which laws they are breaking and how long they will go to prison for.
