It seems Japanese McDonald's customers got more than they ordered when they received their free MP3 players from McDonald's, no they didn't get a large fries they got a variant of the QQPass Trojan. McDonald's had been running a promotion and competition along side Coca-Cola, they had shipped 10,000 MP3 players to the 'lucky' winners preloaded with 10 songs and it seems an unwanted addition. The unwanted addition was a variant of the QQPass password stealing Trojan, it is understood from the announcement that the Trojan would be executed when the player was connected to the victim PC. |
