The alleged Pentagon hacker Gary McKinnon has finally lost his fight against extradition to the US. McKinnon failed to convince the Appeal Court Judges on Tuesday to overturn the ruling by the Home Secretary to extradite him to the United States to face charges for alleged attacks against the Pentagon and other US Military computer systems during 2001. Mckinnon was arrested in 2002 by officers from the UK National High Tech Crime Unit, extradition proceedings to did not start until July 2005. McKinnon has consistently claimed that he had did not cause any damage to US Military systems as he was only looking for information on UFOs. At several points in the proceedings McKinnon has had fears that the US Government will ship him off to Guantanamo Bay and make him subject to ‘Military Order Number One’ which would result in him being held without trial indefinitely. However it is understood that there have been assurances that this will not happen. |
