SHA-1 Cryptanalysis Paper Online PDF Print E-mail

The paper that was the basis for the claim earlier in the year about the compromise of the SHA-1 hash function has been released to the public at large. The original authors of the paper planned to present the work at the Crypto conference in August. One of the rules associated with presenting at the Crypto conference state that the work cannot have been published. The authors misunderstood this to mean that it could not have been made public, instead of it having been published in a journal or similar.

This misunderstanding has been corrected and they have made it available on the web, you can read the paper "Finding Collisions in the Full SHA-1," by Xiaoyun Wang, Yiqun Lisa Yin, and Hongbo Yu, here.
